During the Third Technical Conference of the Association of Tax Authorities of Islamic Countries (ATAIC) held on Nov. 22 in Islamabad, Pakistan, Iran was commended for establishing the first Islamic media employed for educating and propagating the tax related issues in the Islamic world, an official with Iran’s Taxation Affairs Organization said here on Wednesday.
During the conference, Iranian delegation also proposed that the state taxes levied on the guilds should be formulated through negotiations with the representatives of the organizations, Asadi said, adding that a number of countries like Turkey, Malaysia, Pakistan and Morocco showed interest to make use of our expertise in the field.
The Third Technical Conference of the Association of Tax Authorities of Islamic Countries pledged to finalize an action plan for cooperation in the field of taxation and other economic areas. Some 70 foreign delegates from 22 Muslim countries as well as a number of international institutions including International Bureau of Fiscal Documentation (IBFD), located in Netherlands, attended the conference.
The conference deliberated upon the formulation of strategies for resource mobilization and increasing tax-to-GDP ratio, promotion of voluntary compliance by the taxpayers especially the small traders for future economic development of Islamic countries.
